OWC has announced they are joining the TB5 hype train with the release of the Thunderbolt 5 Hub.
Designed for both Mac and PC users for a new world of workflow possibilities, the hub comes with a 3x TB5 port and 1x USB-A port while offering a bi-directional data speed of up to 80Gb/s which is double of the last-gen TB4 standard. Display bandwidth-wise, it is up to 120GB/s.
With these kinds of performance, one can connect external SSDs with up to 6GB/s speeds, link up to 3x 8K60Hz displays with DSC, and maintain compatibility with both modern USB-C devices and legacy USB-A accessories. Additionally, the hub supports mobile device use by supplying up to 140 watts of power, keeping notebooks and tablets charged for on-the-go productivity.
It is universally and backward compatible with older protocols like TB4 and TB3 as well as USB-C and USB4 devices. Additionally, it can be daisy-chained across multiple devices thanks to how Thunderbolt natively functions. All of these nice features are enclosed within a fanless aluminum enclosure that can handle all of these without blasting tons of heat, effectively staying cool and quiet at all times.
