ASUS Malaysia has announced they will be bringing in the TUF Gaming A2 SSD enclosure into the local market next month.
Perhaps as a more affordable option compared to its ROG counterpart, the A2 is running USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 protocol with up to 20Gbps of transfer speeds which will be nice to move some large files around like videos and perhaps Steam game installs for that one friend with inferior Internet connection.
Interface and form factor wise, it supports both PCIe NVMe and SATA as well as 2242, 2260, and 2280 form factors, with up to 4TB storage capacity. The Q-Latch mechanism also allows easy, screw-free installation and removal of M.2 SSDs, using a simple locking system for added convenience.
Designed for rugged use, the TUF Gaming A2 undergoes drop tests from heights of 1.22 meters and meets U.S. MIL-STD-810H standards in addition to the bread-and-butter IP68 dust and water resistance. Additionally, it has a high-grade silicone-rubber exterior that absorbs shocks, withstands extreme temperatures, and resists UV rays, rain, and static while the ribbed design provides an easy grip. Oh, the highly conductive internal thermal pad efficiently dissipates heat with a K-value of 3, ensuring stability and longevity.
As for what platform and devices it supports, Windows 11, macOS, mobile devices, and game consoles such as the ROG Ally, PS5, and Xbox are on the list.
Availability
The ASUS TUF Gaming A2 will be made available in Malaysia from mid-December 2024.
